TotalTemp’s Mission is to provide better functionality and support to customers

Mechanically Refrigerated Thermal Platforms for testing where Liquid Nitrogen is not practical. Several sizes are available. There are two different configurations with different lower temperature ranges. Single stage refrigeration systems designated SC are simpler and capable of temperatures as cold as -40°. Ultra cold systems are designated SCC. They have cascade refrigeration systems which are a little slower and more expensive but capable of temperatures at least as cold as -70°C. More information on types of mechanically cooled platforms.

Primary Features & Benefits:

  • Proven, industry-standard ultra-low temp refrigeration system.
  • An energy-efficient single-stage refrigeration system, capable of removing heat at -40°C.
  • A two-stage refrigeration system is as low as -70°C.
  • No L-N2 or L-CO2 tanks are needed.
  • Causes no Oxygen displacement.
  • Chassis Mounted Platform or benchtop with under bench remote refrigeration stand.
  • Optional Polycarbonate cover reduces condensation and frost (Standard or Low ESD).
  • Optional Dry Air or G-N2 purge systems available.
  • Consult Factory for colder temperatures.
  • Uses our popular premier Synergy Controller.

Mechanically Refrigerated Temperature Chambers

The unique embedded copper tube cooling channel concept designed by TotalTemp, integrated with a high-density arrangement of long-life durable AC cartridge heaters, provides a comprehensive system able to deliver hot and cold temperature cycling and conditioning on demand. With extremely accurate temperature uniformity and minimal thermal gradients at temperature, TTI has truly created “The Next Generation in Performance” at a price you can handle.

All TotalTemp, single-stage Mechanically Refrigerated products are designed to operate between -40°C and +175°C with a single-stage compressor.

Two-stage systems are designed to achieve -70°C.

Models are available of the single-stage SC49-N and SC144-N system can cool the 7.5″ x 6.5″ or 12” square surface from +120°C to -40°C in less than 8 minutes. That’s an average of better than 20 degrees per minute for the whole transition from hot to cold.

Cascade refrigeration systems that cool to -70°C are typically a little slower.

Purging with gas serves two purposes during environmental thermal testing. Most often it is used to keep condensation and frost from accumulating on the surfaces of the DUT (Device Under Test) at cold temperatures. Additionally, it is also used to prevent the oxidation of metals surfaces at high temperatures.

Purging serves three purposes. Most often it is used to keep condensation and frost from accumulating on the surfaces of the DUT (Device Under Test) at cold temperatures. Additionally, it is also used to prevent the oxidation of metals surfaces at high temperatures. Lastly, the cover greatly reduces the gradient effects caused by room temperature.

Flow Meter

Flowmeter comes with a press lock fitting and 12 feet of tubing. For use with gas sources with regulated pressure.

Panel Mount Flow Meter

Flowmeter can be panel mounted. Installed in 19″ rack, benchtop controller, or on purge cover.

Thermal Machine
Dry Nitrogen Purge Regulator with Flowmeter
Regulates pressure and flow rate of gaseous Nitrogen from a Dewar or portable tank. Works very well because the moisture content of the Nitrogen is extremely low and it is often readily available at the test station. Nitrogen is also notably inert, that is to say, it does not easily react with other elements or materials. Ships with 12 feet of tubing and press lock connections installed when ordered with a Purge Cover.
Thermal Machine
Purge Conditioning Option
This simple solution gets the air temperature inside a cover close to the platform temperature which is very beneficial for reducing thermal gradients. The purge gas is run through an extra heat exchanger in the platform as indicated with arrows; this gives the user the ability to keep the temperature of the purge gas much closer to the temperature of the device under test. Available on all models of Thermal Platforms and HBC Models (Hybrid Benchtop Chambers.
